Thank You for Donating!!

The Owen County Sheriff’s Department has been raising funds to add a second K-9 unit through donations, fundraisers, and grants from the community. The goal is to be able to better equip the officers in their search for illegal substances and apprehending suspects by using a dog certified in narcotic detection. The K-9 unit will also be able to assist in tracking, building searches, and added security for our deputies. Only a few months ago, the Sheriff’s Department started asking the community for their support in this goal. In an overwhelming show of support, the community helped us reach the first step in that goal. We were able obtain a German Shepard, named Koda, on May 25th. Koda has been paired with Deputy Caleb Hutchison. Deputy Hutchison and K-9 Koda are currently in their third week of narcotics training.

The entire Sheriff’s Department would like to thank everyone who has shown their support by donating to this cause. We have had many individuals and businesses donate, and we are thankful for all of you! We would like to say a special thank you to the Spencer American Legion for the fundraiser they hosted in our benefit. The care and training for both K-9 units is a continuous task, and all future donations to the K-9 Fund will be beneficial. Through the use of both K-9, we hope to better serve the community and its citizens. Have a great summer, God bless!
